Re: [Condor-users] problem with manual installation on Windows 2k

George,

c:\> net start condor
The Condor service is starting.
The Condor service could not be started.

A system error has occurred.

System error 1067 has occurred.

This means that the master exited right after the service control manager tried to start it up. There's a bunch of reasons why this could happen, but the ones I see most often are:

1. The master can't find the config file(s) (try running 'condor_config_val LOG' and see if it works)

2. The master can't write to the LOG path (make sure the path exists and BUILTIN\Administrators and/or NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM can write to it)

Failing that, running 'condor_master -f -t' from the command line can often reveal the problem. This is just for debugging though; don't run the master from the command line normally.
