missing
Hi all.. Sorry for interruption... but, I have not used
the scripts to create the checkpoint.. but, i have used the checkpoint file that
i created by booting a serengeti target in simics and used the same to load
ruby.. and it loaded successfully.. Is it necessary that we need to create
checkpoint using scripts

It will take quite a while for the .check file to be created (4-5 hours
on our machines). Just make sure that at your simics prompt you aren't
seeing any error messages.

Hi Derek,
My bad.. I set the
location as mentioned by you and it's working correct. However, on running
the "./naked-check-create.sh 16 65536", it takes me to the Simics prompt as
I mentioned earlier. Is that fine and can I
continue with the following steps of installation? I was expecting a .check
file been created and as you mentioned, I thought I have to point to the
newly created .check file.
Thanks,
Dinagar
SIMICS_DIR should be set to a directory containing the entire Simics
release that is downloaded from Virtutech, NOT to any files that are
included in the GEMS release. In most cases, you will want to put the
Simics release in a subdirectory of GEMS called simics, and then have
SIMICS_DIR point there. ( e.g. SIMICS_DIR=$GEMS_ROOT/simics)

Hi
Derek/all,
Thanks for your
quick response. To start with, I am new to GEMS and so there might be simple
questions.
I tried to run naked
checkpoint scripts [naked-check-create.sh] by modifying SIMICS_DIR in the
file system.conf to "/home/dinagar/gems/checkpoints/simics_scripts" as all
the required simics files are present in simics_scripts folder. I also found
that "./simics" is being executed. So I copied simics from
/home/dinagar/gems/simics/home/MOSI_SMP_bcast.
Now, on running the
naked-check-create.sh, it is taking me to directly to Simics prompt. Is that
fine and can I continue with the following steps of installation? I was
expecting a .check file been created and as you mentioned, I thought I have
to point to the newly created .check file.
Thanks,
Dinagar
Those checkpoint files are not included in the GEMS release. You
can, however generate them by running the naked checkpoint scripts located
in GEMS/checkpoints. After generating them, you can change the simics
scripts to point to your checkpoints (instead of golden-?p.check)

Hi all,
After installing GCC-3.4.4 and few
modification, I am able to compile Opal in my X86 machine.
Now, got stuck in one of the following
step, Load Checkpoint
Here, I have to execute "simics> read-configuration ../../
checkpoints-u3/golden-1p.check". But the .check files weren't generated at all by default. Whether we have to create golden-1p.check? If it comes along with SIMICS, then what is the command to generate them? Or can you please send me the folder "checkpoints-u3".
Thanks, Dinagar
