This assumes your job get rerun on the same machine. Another option is to use when_to_transfer_output=ON_EXIT_OR_EVICT. Then, any intermediate results are transferred to the submit machine if the job is evicted, then transferred to the next execute machine before the job is restarted. The transfer doesn't happen if the execute machine crashes, though.
