[Condor-users] having problems installing Condor

I'm attempting to deploy Condor to a set of training room machines -- these are fairly "dirty" boxes, with all sorts of software installed, so I don't expect Condor to work flawlessly on them all. But I'm finding a particular problem on machines that are otherwise quite healthy.

On these machines, Condor installs OK and the Condor service comes up OK, but the machine won't show up in the pool. Looking at the logs, I see two errors: one in the SchedLog that says "permission denied for unknown user from host <xx.xx.xx.xx> (QMGMT_CMD)" and a similar one in the StartLog that says "permission denied for unknown user on host <xx.xx.xx.xx> (GIVE_STATE)". The host in these messages is the machine itself. Running condor_status shows all the other machines in my pool but this one. Running condor_q gives the error message "failed to fetch ads from <xx.xx.xx.xx>", again, that host is the machine itself.

Now, a few more details. All the machines are Windows XP and Condor is version 6.6.9, running in submit and execute mode. Condor is being installed via a MSI script (because that is the way my enterprise requires that software be installed on machines) and being deployed via SMS (which means its all automated). Condor is installed and run as LocalSystem.

I suspect this has something to do with permissioning but it does work fine on some of the other machines. Anyone have and ideas what might be causing this glitch? Also, anyone else have experience scripting the Condor install using MSI and SMS?
