this is a minor (but annoying) bug in the 6.7.x series.  i've fixed
this and it will be included in the new 6.7.15 release (which should
be out any day now).  sorry for the junk in your log files (that's
basically the only harm this is causing), and thanks for the bug
report.

p.s. yes, universe 9 == "grid" a.k.a. "globus".  the word "globus" is
now deprecated for this job universe, since condor supports different
kinds of grid jobs (specified by "grid_type") besides globus.  see
http://www.cs.wisc.edu/condor/manual/v6.7.14/5_3Grid_Universe.html for
more details.  better yet, wait until the 6.7.15 manual is released,
since we just did a bunch of editing and updates to the grid-related
documentation...
