Re: [Condor-users] Error: Could not fetch ads --- can't find collector

There are many problems that can cause this. From my own exprience, if you have setup everything as in accordance to the manuals, have all the appropriate daemons running on central manager and the pools, then it seems that you have a communication problem.

Try to disable the FIREWALL on your machine and see whether it will work or not. Let me know if this solves the problem.

Amril

Subject: [Condor-users] Error: Could not fetch ads --- can't find collector

I hav setup condor-6.6.10 on fedora core-3 with globus -4, one machine is
configured as head node ( not proxy server) and other as client node,
after long trouble also , Im unable to solve the problem

IN THE HEAD NODE

[root@ca1 ~]# ps -ef | egrep condor_
condor 6623 1 0 14:50 ? 00:00:00 condor_master
condor 6625 6623 0 14:50 ? 00:00:00 condor_schedd -f
condor 6656 1 0 14:51 ? 00:00:00 condor_collector
condor 6662 1 0 14:51 ? 00:00:00 condor_negotiator
root 6672 6563 0 14:52 pts/2 00:00:00 egrep condor_

[root@ca1 ~]# condor_status
Error: Could not fetch ads --- can't find collector

[root@ca1 ~]# condor_q

-- Submitter: ca1.cdacgrid : <192.9.200.215:34735> : ca1.cdacgrid
ID OWNER SUBMITTED RUN_TIME ST PRI SIZE CMD

0 jobs; 0 idle, 0 running, 0 held

IN CLIENT NODE

[root@nodeA sbin]# ps -ef | egrep condor_
root 3629 3551 0 14:52 pts/2 00:00:00 egrep condor_

[root@nodeA sbin]# condor_q
Error:

Extra Info: You probably saw this error because the condor_schedd is not
running on the machine you are trying to query. If the condor_schedd is
not
running, the Condor system will not be able to find an address and port to
connect to and satisfy this request. Please make sure the Condor daemons
are
running and try again.

Extra Info: If the condor_schedd is running on the machine you are trying
to
query and you still see the error, the most likely cause is that you have
setup a personal Condor, you have not defined SCHEDD_NAME in your
condor_config file, and something is wrong with your SCHEDD_ADDRESS_FILE
setting. You must define either or both of those settings in your config
file, or you must use the -name option to condor_q. Please see the Condor
manual for details on SCHEDD_NAME and SCHEDD_ADDRESS_FILE.

[root@nodeA ~]# condor_status
Error: Could not fetch ads --- can't find collector
