Re: [Condor-users] PERMISSION DENIED to unknown user fromhostandconnection to astro.cs.wisc.edu

Title: Re: [Condor-users] PERMISSION DENIED to unknown user from hostandconnection to astro.cs.wisc.edu
I ran into those same error messages.  It turns out the 6.8.2 installer for Windows does not do the appropriate thing.  If you tell it to join an existing pool, well it does, but it insists on running a collector/negotiator process of its own.  While relatively harmless, it does clutter the real collector log with error messages, and for this reason alone I'm still using the 6.6.11 installer for Windows.  Hopefully someone from the Condor team can fix this problem soon, or explain to me why it isn't >

Thanks,

Adam

I have a resolution of my problem - but I suspect it is different than the original poster. It turns out my problem related to a single XP box that was booting with a corrupt user profile - and hadn't authenticated properly against the domain controller. After I resolved this, the spurious message went away.

I work with Fabrice, who initially posted this problem - permission denied to unknown user from host....

Our DNS also seems okay - names resolve both ways from the submitting node and from the master. However, there are two other features which may help diagnose what is wrong.

1. Each node has 5 processes running, instead of 5 on the master and 3 on the nodes.
2. When I submit a single job, it does not run. When I submit 3 or more identical jobs, they all run.

Thanks,
Simon
