Re: [Condor-users] how to resrict job run time

I tried this and the value I set does appear in the condor_q -l listing
for the job but it carries on running past the time limit. I set the
limit to 60 s but the job is still going after 16 min. The manual
seems to say that this is the max time the startd will wait after
preempting the job before hard killing it. I was hoping for something
that would kill the job after running for a given time.

cheers,

-ian.

Hi Ian,

The "MaxJobRetirementTime" attribut in the Job ClassAd should provide you the desired functionality.

Betreff: [Condor-users] how to resrict job run time

Hi,

Is it possible to restrict the runtime of Condor jobs in a similar way to schedulers such as SGE and PBS. We have a user who wants to submit a large number of shortish jobs. These are known not to converge if they consume more than ~ 10 mins wall clock time and so can be killed off in the interest of efficiency.

I have a feeling this can be done with machine classads but is there anyway of doing it with job classads.

regards,

-ian.
