Hi,

The DAEMON_LIST of a submit machine will have SCHEDD in it, compute will have STARTD, if its submit and compute, it will have both. You'll need access to the config files though.

I guess you could look on the process list of something like top. If condor_schedd is in there it should have a submit queue.
