[Condor-users] Retrieval of jobs estimated processing time

Hello all,

We are using Condor 7.0.x (Vanilla universe) to distribute some kind of image processing jobs. Our processing software provides information about the estimated processing time when using the normal stand-alone mode. This estimated time is continuously updated during the processing process. In addition, we have written a small front-end software for Condor which creates the necessary submit files and monitors the processing progress of the single jobs.
We now would also like to display the job's estimated processing time within our front-end software and therefor already checked the condor_chirp command. It works fine to set some ClassAds during runtime when our processing software is directly called as the job's executable. But in our case it is actually necessary to set some environments and do some preprocessing stuff, etc. before starting our program. For this reason we currently create and define a batch file as the job's executable and within this batch file our exe is started. In this case the condor_chirp command fails (which is called within the exe), the ClassAdds are not updated. Since the condor_chirp command (with its possibility to set ClassAds) is much more convient than working with a file based resolution, we would like to know if it is somehow possible to make it work?

Best Regards / Mit freundlichen Grüßen
