I believe there are issues in a 7 -> 6 series schedd/startd communication (though this may be only in one direction). IIRC we big banged this part of our upgrade.

We are running condor collector and negotiator in version 7.0.1, and
worker nodes run condor startd in version 6.8.9. If we upgrade our
gatekeeper to condor version 7.2.4 (for schedd), will they work together
well?
