Re: [Condor-users] Condor training

Hi John,

My experience with Condor so far has been that it is really easy to set up if you like the default settings. However, if you are trying to tailor your environment for certain kinds of jobs that are far enough from the default configuration, it can be tricky. I recommend reading the Condor Manual (at least chapter 1, chapter 2, and section 3.1) and making a list of requirements for your Condor environment. Then email those specifics back to the group for more specific help. Then people who have figured out solutions to specific requirements you have can help you. For example, my experience is limited to running memory intensive jobs in the Java universe using dedicated Linux compute nodes that share disk space using NFS. I could tell you what I know about that, but none of it may not be applicable to your situation.

Good luck!
Chris

Subject: [Condor-users] Condor training

Hello,

Does anyone know of any training available for Condor?  If anyone would be willing to share their own personal experience with implementing a Condor environment and getting up to speed with the technology it would be appreciated.

Thanks,

John
