Re: [HTCondor-users] NETWORK_INTERFACE and condor_status

Hello -

I recently added NETWORK_INTERFACE to my condor_config.local, and then
subsequently could not successfully invoke condor_status without getting
the error “CEDAR:6001:Failed to connect to <127.0.0.1:9618>”. Is there
an explanation for this? Most likely it is my error, but it does not
seem obvious…

Many thanks,
Tom

Hi Tom,

NETWORK_INTERFACE is one of the (rare) config settings that cannot be changed on the fly... you need to shutdown HTCondor, change NETWORK_INTERFACE, and then restart up HTCondor again.

Also note that setting NETWORK_INTERFACE=127.0.0.1 means that you truly have a condor pool of one node - no HTCondor tools or daemons will communicate over the network.
