Aside: a complication with cgroups. I am using Debian Wheezy as the
base, and after installing cgroup-bin I don't get any config, daemons or
startup scripts. Then I found:

It appears you have to hack together the scripts yourself; not only that
but Debian disables the memory subsystem by default so you have to
override this. This seems like a totally untested kit of parts :-(
