Jon,

What do you mean by "after changing config files on some of the submit
and worker nodes"? Did you just update the CONDOR_HOST setting?

Where are you running condor_status from? If you're running it from
your central manager, try one of the submit or worker nodes that you
changed the configuration of. That may give you helpful information
about what's going on. Similarly, the daemon logs from one of those
machines might give some clue.
