[HTCondor-users] memory usage not updating

the memory usage counter that i see in the condor_status output from
each slot doesn't seem to be updating

looking at one of the starter logs i see this every five minutes

error getting family usage in VanillaProc::PublishUpdatedAd(), for pid
ProcFamilyDirect: no family for pid

we're running 8.6.1.  as far as i can tell the pool is running fine.
the only other odd error i see is in the collectorlogs

DaemonCore: Can't receive command request from  (perhaps a timeout?)

this comes out twice per minute, but i can seem to locate what action
is causing them or whether they're related
