Hi Mike,

That's a very annoying feature that I haven't found a way out of. We
had some code that babysat a flaky process by checking the timestamp
on the log file. Our "solution" was to open the file read-only and
immediately close it every minute. This causes the file metadata to
update. That probably doesn't help you here, but in case it does...
