Thanks for the response. You are right, I should have checked the $GEMS/protocols directory before trying to compile this. I copied the corresponding files from GEMS 2.0 and got it compiled successfully.

If you are using GEMS2.1, AMD protocol (MOESI_SMP_hammer) is being deprecated. I think the latest version including that protocol is 2.0.
