Yup, you took the manual "SUBSYS_ATTRS" too literally.  What you really need
is:

STARTD_EXPRS = ARCH_TYPE
(or)
STARTD_ATTRS = ARCH_TYPE

You're trying to set the expression for a particular subsystem, in this
case, the startd.
