Thanks for replying.

yes 
/tmp/x509up_u1273 is the correct file. get it when i do
grid-proxy-init -old

I am running condor. i also tried changing permissions for all to
access it still gives the same error.

in /etc/grid-security/certificates/
4157a44b.0                     globus-user-ssl.conf.4157a44b
4157a44b.signing_policy        grid-security.conf.4157a44b
globus-host-ssl.conf.4157a44b


dont have any files in
$GLOBUS_LOCATION/share/certificates
