Re: [Condor-users] problem with manual installation on Windows 2k

You can also manually merge a registry file like the following:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Condor]
"Start"=dword:00000002

This will register the service to start automatically after using
install.exe.

I can use the NAL to set this value on installation but when install.exe is run (either the M$ one or the Condor one) it is reset to dword:00000003 which makes the service manual again. We don't seem to have reg.exe or similar installed so I don't see how to change the value back from the command line.

Seem to be going around in circles here,

any ideas ????

thanks,

-ian.

Hope this helps, Bob Nordlund

I'm trying to set up a NAL to install condor under windows
2k but the condor service doesn't seem to start automatically.
I can start it using "net start condor" but it doesn't start
up again on reboot. I'm using

You might also check the dependencies for the Condor service. install.exe does not deal with these, but they can be important. For example, if your NAL install tries to start the Condor service before the Network Connections service is started, it will obviously fail.

The easiest way to determine if this problem is occurring is to check
the System event log and see if it is has any information on the Condor
service failing to start.
