RE: [Condor-users] Condor on Windows 2003 Server

I tried 6.7.9 for Windows and I still have the exact same problems.  While installing condor on my Win2k3 domain controller I got the error message I mentioned previously about condor_config.local.  After install I fixed the crlf problems in the condor_config.local file.  As I mentioned before, the paths in the condor_config files uses a mixture of both forward and backward slashes, so I fixed that as well.  I also gave full control to the system account for the condor directory.  I then started the condor service and only condor_master.exe starts.  This machine is a central manager and should also be able to submit jobs.  According to the docs I should have the following running:

  • condor_ master.exe
  • condor_ negotiator.exe, if this machine is a central manager.
  • condor_ collector.exe, if this machine is a central manager.
  • condor_ schedd.exe, if you indicated that this Condor node should submit jobs to the Condor pool.

My MasterLog file only shows:

As you can see, there is not much to go on here.  Notice from the first startup message the mixture of forward and backslashes  in the condor_config file that I had to correct.  Since the other services aren’t started, no logs are generated for them.

I’m not sure what else to do.  Any help would be appreciated.

I got a lot of feedback from everyone on my problem and I wanted to update everyone on what I am doing to resolve my problems.  I noticed 6.7.9 has been released, so the first thing I am going to do is give this new version a try.  Hopefully it will at least resolve the messed up condor_config file.  If it does, that will probably also eliminate my installer errors that popped up about condor_config.

If that doesn’t work I will try many of the great suggestions offered everyone.

Thanks again for your help.

Has anyone had any luck using Condor on Windows 2003 Server with/without sp1 as a central manager?  I tried, but it didn’t work.  It was my first attempt at using condor, so maybe it was user error? J

BTW, my Win2k3 machine is also a DC.

Thanks
