Ian,

the stderr and stdout log files are empty. I dont have the email
service set up so no email. However the logs (in debug mode) are
telling me nothing either - it just says the job has terminated
with signal 53. is there a list of signal number to meaning mappings ?

I've seen this someplace but can't remember exactly where - try Googling.

What do you mean by "managed" ? interestingly we only see this problem on
machines where we installed condor through active directory (using a
custom made condor.msi) although the settings & access rights to the
directories are identical as far as i can tell ..

They are managed in the sense that they are general classroom machines
used by students and are administered centrally. They are locked down pretty
tight so that users can only write to a restricted part of the disk
and cannot alter registry settings etc. We run Condor jobs under Condor's
default temporary usename (condor_reuse_vm1 or similar AFAIR).

Incidently I'm seeing exactly this problem when I try to run SRB clients
using Condor. Empty stdout and stderr and the same logfile message as you.
When I run the same .exe's under my own account (which is non-priviledged)
it's fine. Bizarre !

will let you know if we can make any progress,

Hi Mike,

What do you see in your stdout and stderr files ? Is it something
like:

Access is denied

Do you receive any email messages from Condor regarding the error.

I've had numerous problems with kind of thing running Condor jobs
on our Managed Windows XP service. Unfortunately I'm still
none the wiser about what is causing them ! Any help would be *very*
useful.

Hello,

we have a problem regarding launching applications that require DLL
files on our winxp condor machines . The jobs return immediately
with an exception (see end). jobs not requiring the dll run fine.
equally running the dll dependent job manually on the execute node
also works fine. (the DLL is simply put in the same directory as
the executable; when launching through condor the dll is added as a
file to be transferred)

Has anyone seen anything similar ? It sounds like an access right
problem but i can't seem to fix it ..

Thanks for any help or ideas,

   Mike
