[Condor-users] machine suddenly can't find username

Hi,

I have an installation of Condor 6.8.0 running under SuSE-Linux 10.1. Everything had been going well, until I noticed today that condor wasn't running on my central manager. I tried to restart it, but am seeing errors like this in the log. 11/17 23:51:01 ERROR: can't find username of current user! BEWARE: $(USERNAME) will be undefined

11/17 23:51:01 passwd_cache::cache_uid(): getpwnam("condor") failed: Success

It had been working great on this machine before, and nothing about the machine changed that I know of. Does anyone have any ideas about what might be going on? I assume that the system call to find the username is failing (I have a couple of other machines I've never been able to get condor to run on that show similar errors in their logs), but I don't know what the system call might be, since the source isn't readily accessible.

Thanks,

Dave Schneider
