    MPI is better than PVM under most conditions.  I think unless you have some special things, you can use MPI instead of PVM.

I have tried to run PVM jobs almost 3 months :) and finally I got the answer that it is broken. I  don't know if I can work with MPI, because I have never tried MPI.
