[Condor-users] Newbie: Need a little help setting up an execute node

I'm setting up a small Condor cluster for testing purposes.  I believe I've got the submit/manager machine installed OK, but I'm having trouble adding an execute node.

Background information:  Condor is installed and running on the manager in the directory /condor, which is NFS exported to the execute node.  I'm running a private DNS server and both forward and reverse lookups work properly.  The manager node is named "howler" and the execute node is named "spider1".  They're sharing a common UID space via NIS.

On the execute node, when I go to /condor/condor-6.8.5/ and try:

./condor_configure --install --install-dir=/condor --central-manager=howler --type=execute

...it seems to complete successfully, but it doesn't create a local directory under /condor for the new machine.  I have /condor/local.howler (from the master install) but no /condor/local.spider1.

I assume there's something simple I'm missing here, since this is the first time I've tried to set up a condor cluster.  Could someone point me in the right direction?
