On Debian Etch this should hold true:

$ apt-file search libssp.so.0
lib32ssp0: emul/ia32-linux/usr/lib/libssp.so.0
lib32ssp0: emul/ia32-linux/usr/lib/libssp.so.0.0.0
libssp0: usr/lib/libssp.so.0
libssp0: usr/lib/libssp.so.0.0.0

i.e. I would suggest you should install libssp0
