This certainly looks like a transient issue. You can enable D_NETWORK to
get lots of info in your logs, which may include useful information
about the failure.

Other than the transfer failing and being retried is there a particular
issue here?

Have you looked at not transferring your disk files, and instead
accessing them purely from your shared file system?
