Re: [Condor-users] can I run mixed versions of condor together?

It depends on if you are using TCP sockets for anything. The
tcp socket negotiation was considerably improved in the 7.2 series.
In the mid 7.0 series there were certain bugs in which a
dance of death could be set up between the schedd and startd or
schedd and collector. I would upgrade everything if I were you.
There have been a lot of memory leaks fixed in collector and negotiatior
since 7.0.1 too. Also if you are doing GSI authentication in
your condor pool, which you should be doing if you are on the OSG,
it's vital to get up to the new version.

We are now running condor version 7.0.5 on the gatekeeper (schedd), it
works fine with the different versions of central manager and startd.

But I am not sure what will happen if we upgrade it from 7.0.5 to 7.2.4

I believe there are issues in a 7 -> 6 series schedd/startd communication (though this may be only in one direction). IIRC we big banged this part of our upgrade.

Hello,

We are running condor collector and negotiator in version 7.0.1, and
worker nodes run condor startd in version 6.8.9. If we upgrade our
gatekeeper to condor version 7.2.4 (for schedd), will they work together
well?

Thanks,
Xin
