Alas, the apparent 'good news' is false.
On Fedora 19 with HTCondor 8.1.0, the schedd keeps crashing upon restarts by
the master daemon
(it seems to have nothing to do with the missing Â/var/lock/condor/local/
Âdirectory).

If you are ok with installing from a tarball, I think the rhel 6 tarball from the download site: http://research.cs.wisc.edu/htcondor/downloads
should run on F19.
