I'm not suggesting any new vulnerability.
It has always been true that condor will abort if there is any syntax error in the config files.

This is orthogonal to the compatibility issue, but it's worrisome from a security perspective that an invalid configuration can cause HTCondor 8.0.x to dump core, whether or not this invalid configuration is associated with great new functionality in 8.1.x.
