Re: [HTCondor-users] Workaround to use LDAP condor account

Works fine on ubuntu 18Â systems. We automatically build 4 to 5 VMs daily and they connect up with the master node.

Our build sytem (simplified):

Set IP & hostname, reboot.

Set up firewall, then network shares.

Connect to active directory.

Set up local administrative configuration.

Install packages (including htcondor).

Reboot at end

Today's 8.8.4 release addresses this problem. The condor_master checks for the existence of /var/run/condor and /var/lock/condor and creates them if they are missing.

The remaining problem then is when you kickstart a node you can't install condor until after you've installed and configured pam_ldap and have it talking to ldap server.

Plus of course making sure on lennartware-infested systems condor doesn't start before ldap is up and running. I think at least on centos that's been taken care of a while back, not sure about debian-based ones.
