Re: [HTCondor-users] sudo / package installation inside a docker container inside a user job

python3, tensorflow, gnuplot, etc... nothing special, in principle they could be installed in advance, but each user group has different requirements and we don’t want to manage / maintain so many different docker image...

Gergely,

What type of packages do you need to install on the fly?

Subject: [HTCondor-users] sudo / package installation inside a docker container inside a user job

Hi !

Currently we are running docker universe jobs successfully. The jobs are running as local pool users condoruser001, condoruser002... (Those unix users are created on the host machine.)

What I'd like to do now, is to be able to install new packages inside the docker container  before the "real" part of the job starts running. Can I somehow sudo inside the docker container and install packages ?

I'd like to do this, since I would like to use only a couple of base docker image for our jobs and each job should pull its dependencies on-the-fly during the execution of the job on the top of the base image. This would extremely simplify image maintenance.

Currently the condor job's user cnanot do this.

Is there a way ?

thanks a lot ina advance,

Gergely
