[HTCondor-users] Submit Job through Command Line

Hi,

I am wanting to submit jobs through the command line without having to have a submit file. I am running on Windows.

Referencing the manual I believe this is possible by simply passing in the arguments in <submit-variable>=<value> format following the condor_submit command.

However when I try this I receive “Submitting job(s)” response but no job is ever passed. (there is no “.” After the “job(s)” which I normally see). I have to Ctrl+C to exit inputting.

If I specify a submit file in with simply “queue” in it in addition to the above command the job runs fine.

If I type queue after receiving the “Submitting job(s)” I receive a “.” response. I also have to Ctrl+C to exit inputting. In this case the jobs do run but not immediately. When I condor_q –analyze them before they execute it states that they have “not yet been considered by the matchmaker”.

Ideally I would like to be able to submit jobs entirely through the command line without a submit file. Is there something additional I need to add to the command line to immediately queue the job? Is there a reason for the slower time to execute when I type queue following the “Submitting job(s)” response?

Thanks,

Lachlan
