How long will 9.0.x live?  Will they continue putting patches out for 9.0.x after 10.0.x is released?
If so, for how long?
Is 1 year considered a "Long Term Support"?

Hi Steve,

We plan to continue putting out security patches for 9.0.x for 6 months after 10.0.x is released.  This is the same policy that HTCondor has followed for many many years.

So given there is a new major release (aka a new 'stable series' in the old lingo) every 12-18 months, that means an HTCSS "Long Term Support" period is for ~1.5 to 2 years.

As to the question about should 1.5 - 2 years be considered Long Term Support....  It is not very long by the standards of Red Hat/IBM (a multi-billion dollar company that charges a lot of $$$ with hundreds/thousands of employees),  but it is seems reasonably long compared to other continuously evolving freely available open source projects.   And support for 9.0.x is certainly much longer relatively speaking when compared to support for v9.[1|2|3...].0  versions (aka 'new feature' releases) !

Hope the above helps,
regards,
Todd
