Why people usually use Solaris?
I try to do something that may need operating system help, so I was thinking
Linux may be better. But I really fear that the Gems\linux would not work in
the middle of my project. :(

Sparc/Linux should be just fine however we don't have much experience in
doing this.  At one time I did load Ruby into Simics that had booted Linux
and things seemed to work ok, but beyond this 5-minute test, I did nothing
else.
