Re: [HTCondor-users] HTCondor 8.0.6 tarball for SLES10?

OK, I’ve gone back to Condor 8.0.6 RH5 and the error is in fact not mentioning libs but says:

Floating point exception

If I “file condor_master” for 8.0.6 I get:

ELF 64-bit LSB executable, x86-64, version 1 (SYSV), for GNU/Linux 2.6.9, dynamically linked (uses shared libs), stripped

whereas for the working 7.6.7 I get:

ELF 64-bit LSB executable, x86-64, version 1 (SYSV), for GNU/Linux 2.4.0, dynamically linked (uses shared libs), stripped

which doesn’t look that different?

As mentioned in my original email uname -r gives 2.6.16.60-0.91.1-smp

Any ideas why the FP exception?

Cheers

Greg

Thanks Ben.

I’ve downloaded and tried Debian 6 and 7, and RedHat 5, 6 and 7.

None run as is. All give lib error of some description. I guess I’ll go back and try RH5 again

and look at installing the missing required libraries?

As Ben says, if anyone has already done this then any help/pointers appreciated.

The machines we want to upgrade are all VMs (and our central managers) so we could

always run up newer OS replacements and switch over. = more work however  L

It will need to happen sometime but atm we are on a schedule for a Condor upgrade

so OS upgrades may need to wait.

Cheers

Greg,

Based solely on OS release date and kernel versions, I'd say RedHat 5 is probably your best bet (because the GCC and glibc versions are probably closest). Someone who has actually run HTCondor on SLES 10 might have a better opinion.

Thanks,
