Re: [HTCondor-users] What is going on with downloads at https://research.cs.wisc.edu?

Thanks Don for the data point. This is a really strange issue. Firefox (68.0) on not-Windows (haven't tested Windows yet) works for us, too. FYI for others on the list, that specific URL will expire at some point.

Dear Andrew,

Please pardon me for jumping in here as I am not knowledgeable about this.

I was able to download the package using Internet Explorer 11 on a Windows 10 machine.

So it looks like Wisconsinâs website and server are working.

When I clicked on the link which for you produced the timeout, I was taken to another webpage titled:

Downloadable files for HTCondor 8.8.4 @ UW Madison

which included this URL:

http://parrot.cs.wisc.edu//symlink/20190828031501/8/8.8/8.8.4/9c16301af329dcfee3a7a2dfc3c63930/condor-8.8.4-474941-Windows-x86.msi

I wonder if Firefox has some default setting which is blocking something.

Best â Don

Hi Jason,

The exact URL I am on is

I am selecting the condor-8.8.4-474941-Windows-x64.msi download.

I click the checkbox "I have read ..."

I click the "submit download request".

Firefox (Windows 68.0.2) goes away for some time and returns with the "Gateway Timeout" error. This was been a problem for weeks now. I assumed everyone was enjoying a summer break:). I have tried on multiple machines.

Hi Andrew,

Can you share where the problem happens? Is it when you click on the version ("HTCondor 8.9.2") on the Downloads page ( https://research.cs.wisc.edu/htcondor/downloads/ ) or when you are trying to download a specific file? If you're getting this error when you're downloading a file, can you share the URL to the file? It should be coming from parrot.cs.wisc.edu.

Thanks

"Gateway Timeout

The gateway did not receive a timely response from the upstream server or application."
