Re: [Condor-users] Wnidows schedd job limits (Was: RE: Hooks in the Scheduler Universe?)

I'm told there will be at least one more point release before 7.6.

But I should point out that my testing was using a 7.5 submit machine and a pool of 7.4 run machines. It would be helpful if you could try out 7.5 on one of your submit machines let us know if you see performance gains. If you don't, or if it's not enough, we could talk further about how your configuration
differs from mine.

Thank you.

We have historically avoided running the dev series on our main pool (the one time we tried it, for a similar reason) the pain it caused made us swear never to do it again.

Do you have any view on the roadmap for 7.6?

Regarding this topic - we made some changes in 7.5 that should help scalability on Windows submit machines. I did some testing of this yesterday and I was able to comfortably submit 1000 sleep jobs and have them all running simultaneously. A machine running Windows7 x64 with 4 cores and 16 GB of ram was able to submit 2300 sleep jobs and have them all run simultaneously. The submit machine was a bit sluggish, but it was still useable.

I think we should be able to do better than 200 jobs on the typical windows machine. I'd be interested in hearing about your experience with scalability on Windows with Condor 7.5
